Read the register
Nothing here changes any data. You go and look, and you answer for what you found — so there is no Check my work on this page, only your answers.
Where to look
Documents — the register. One row per document; the identity on the left, the current revision’s date, file and status on the right.
Four habits, one question each:
- The footer.
1 to 20 of 46— read the total there, never by counting rows. - Drag a column. Status (builder) sits far to the right. Take its header and drag it leftwards — hold it at the left edge and the grid scrolls for you — then drop it just after Number. Click it to sort: once is A to Z, twice Z to A, and the value you are after is near the top. It appears exactly once.
- Filter, then look at the empty cells. The funnel on Is of type → tick Inspection report. A document whose only revision is still a concept has nothing under Has current revision.
- The other tab. Not in use is the second tab of the register.
What you should see
After step 2 your register looks like this: Status (builder) next to Number, sorted Z to A, with On hold standing out on its own. If your grid does not, drag the column again — the ⋮ menu on any header has Reset Columns if you want to start over. The grid remembers your column order until you do.

Why this is an exercise
A register is not read from the top. The skill is going from a question about the ship — what is on hold, what has no current revision, what was retired — to the one cell that answers it, and arranging the grid so that cell is where you can see it. Dragging a column is not cosmetic: a register with the status beside the number is one you can read in a glance.
If you are stuck
Each answer, with the screen it is read from. Open one only after you have looked yourself — the point is the looking.
How many documents are in use?
Scroll to the bottom of the register. The footer reads 1 to 20 of 46: three pages of twenty, and the count is the last number.
Which document’s current revision is on hold?
Drag the Status (builder) header leftwards until it sits after Number, then click it twice: Z to A puts On hold in the top rows, and it is the exhaust gas piping insulation specification.
Which inspection report has no current revision?
The funnel on the Is of type column: untick (Select All), tick Inspection report. Seven rows; one has nothing under Has current revision — the generator alignment report, whose only revision is still a concept.
Which retired document carries an originator number?
The second tab of the register. Three rows; only the deck crane load test record (2019) has an Originator number.
