File it right

The anchor chain calibration report, R2417-440-001, is filed under 430 Hatches and fish hold covers. Its number says 440, its content is about the anchoring, and anybody looking under 440 Anchoring and mooring will not find it.

What to do

  1. Open the document from the register. In its attributes block the cost code reads 430, underlined.
  2. Right-click the cost code → Select Cost code. A picker opens with every code in a grid of its own — search it, or page through it — tick 440 Anchoring and mooring, and press Save.
  3. The block now reads 440, Anchoring and mooring. Selecting here replaces the link: the document carries one cost code, and choosing another moves it. Press on the block if it has not caught up.

The register does the same job: the Has costcode cell has the same right-click menu, and Browse history on the document shows the change under your name.

    What did not change

The document. Its number, name, revisions and comments are exactly as they were; the only thing that moved is one link, and the history browser on the document shows that update under your name. Check the other end too: Definition → Cost codes, open 440, Documents tab — the report is there; open 430 — it is not.
