Comments by status

Comments are the conversation about the drawings, and Communication → Comments is all of it in one grid.

Where to look

Communication → Comments has five tabs: All, and one per status — Open, Approved, Approved with comments, Rejected. Each row reads outwards from the comment: its content, status, author and date; then the revision it is on, the document that revision belongs to, and the transmittal it came back on. Any of the last three can be empty — a comment on a transmittal has no revision, a comment on a space has neither.

Three ways to narrow it:

  • a tab for a status;
  • the magnifier for a word — it searches every cell in the grid;
  • a sort on Created by to count per author.

What you should see

The Rejected tab with its footer count; the Open tab sorted on Created by, with one name running four rows long; and the word you searched for, highlighted in the one row that carries it.

    Why this is an exercise

    Who said what about which drawing is the question a document controller is asked most often, and the answer is never in the e-mail. It is here, with the status telling you whether anybody has answered yet.

    If you are stuck

    Each answer, with the screen it is read from. Open one only after you have looked yourself — the point is the looking.
